It even works with Remind101! DO IT!
Vocaroo (www.vocaroo.com)
is a no-cost voice recording service, which allows users to download, e-mail,
embed or share virtually, an audio file captured on the site. Users use their
computer's microphone, and Vocaroo works like an Internet voicemail service.
Vocaroo is considered easy to use because customers are not required to log in
or subscribe to use the site; as a result, teachers typically use the service
for student tutorials and homework reminders. Teachers using Vocaroo have
indicated that they "record snippets of information as reminders,"
discuss "aspects of classroom [teaching and] learning experiences"
(Teachers-First, 2012, ¶ 3), or record questions, ideas, or suggestions for a
co-teacher who is unable to meet during scheduled co-planning time. Other co-teaching
applications include the ability to "record a message to send to someone
instead of typing it out; record a message about what is going on in your
class; or record directions for an activity" (TeachersFirst, 2012, ¶ 3).
Vocaroo does not permanently store the audio files on its server; however, the
recordings can be downloaded and saved to a personal computer. As a quick and
easy way to share information between teachers, the Internet-based service is
designed to allow users to present information audibly instead of through a
typed memorandum, which might possibly save valuable time while achieving the
same goal. One satisfied user stated, "I think [Vocaroo] will have to stay
in my teaching arsenal" (Cassidy, 2009, ¶ 13).
